There’s just something about theme parks, i love them, to a degree. Roller-coasters, swinging ships, rapids, the perfect way to spend a summers day when you find yourself with a little spare cash. The rides that propel you too high speeds in a matter of seconds, leaving both your insides and contents of your bowel in your seat, not so much. I find it hard to see the enjoyment in a ride where your eyes are affixed permanently shut. Maybe its because I’m a pussy, infact i know it is. The novelty photo received at the end revealing a frail, scared explorer, eyes shut, gripping the harness for deal life while the girl to my side manning up to the challenge, arms in the air. Screw you Stealth!

During the “L” word road trip we had three sites which were kept as “wildcards”. I .e, if something should go horribly wrong anywhere else, such as no access or it was demolished we could use these as a place to fall back on. This is one of those wildcards.

One of the many abandoned theatres in Brussels, Varia was cold and emotionless, its concrete shell unforgiving and unwelcoming. The better parts tucked away behind its stage and foyer.

One of my favorite sites of to visit in Belgium. Granted its not the largest of places and its a bit battered, probably now beyond repair. But there was just something about the castle that left you with a feeling that can only be described as “win”.

The medieval Lock Ness Abbey, Highland Park, now under conversion into the swanky ”members only” Highland Club and ”Luxury” apartments was originally a academy for training monks before they were dispatched to spread the word of God. With an unbeatable position at the foot of the loch and unspoilt views, I wouldn’t mind owning one of the apartments.

London Park Hotel, my god how many times has this cropped up over time. Well finally today after two years of recces, attempts and theories, its been done! Its a bit of a shame to be honest as in all fairness we were two weeks too late. In the central courtyard a huge pile of debris from each of the floor had just been thrown out the nearest window. Beds, fittings, baths, radiators, rails, everything that would have made up the hotel. Our own fault shouldnt have forgotten about it so many times.
