Well after discovering that access through Parasite was not possible we game a quick ring to Mr JonDoe and after a quick chat, discussing possible options i was pleased to discovered you can access the good parts of the Fleet Relief through the Main Line. Result!.

So off we headed down to the Fleet and within an hour we stood in the Fleets winding maze of access tunnels. I think we got very lucky as we had entered just as the tide was as its lowest so we pushed straight on deciding to look at the Main Line on the way back.

As we traveled further up the Main Line we passed a few new features i hadn't seen before and the biggest rat i have ever seen almost a foot and a half long. If that thing had bitten me it would have taken my leg off!.

We could hear a roaring sound in the distance and after a few minutes we arrived at the top of the main pipe where it splits into two. We headed left, through a small doorway in the side and down into the Fleet storm relief.

Now we had a problem. I couldn't remember if JonDoe had said to go upstream or downstream to reach the interesting stuff. We took a moment to contemplate then decided to head upstream.

15 minutes of walking and we had still not found anything. We were thinking we had gone the wrong way so we decided another 2 minutes, if we found nothing wed turn back.

Sure enough two minutes later around a small bend we came to a small junction. Ahh well better then nothing. We ended up spending quite some time hear as the bricks turned out to be perfect for photos. After taking pictures from most angles i could think of without going "wonky" style we headed back downstream.

We passed the access to the Fleet and continued on towards a small run off where all the water from the relief is diverted down some stairs and into another pipe. Just beyond here a large wooden gate enforced the diversion stopped all water below a meter going passed. We took a few pictures then went over the gate and continued on.

Just round the corner we came to two pipes coming in from the left. There was a small chamber at the other end so we took a quick detour. We emerged in a small room with two large flood gates to my left and one smaller one behind me. To the front was a small ladder and platform leading to a now bricked up passageway.

We spent a few minutes here before realising we were growing short on time so we hurried to the end of the pipe where the tunnel split in two, each pipe ending behind a now bubbling gate.

Since this tunnel was already backfilling with water from the Thames and we had to go back on ourselves to get out we felt it time to make a move. Once we reached the safety of the Main Line passageways we took a quick peak at the end chamber to see how much the tide had rising in the 2 hours we had been down there. Woah scary the room was now full and had risen almost three meters!. I think we had timed it just right.

Good trip will return to finish the relief one day. Cheers JD for he help!.
