You should know of Sub-Urban by now, the original UK sewer explorers. Given their experience and the array of sewers theyve explored, visiting one that even they found difficult to cope with sets your expectations for the worst, a night of filth beyond your wildest dreams.

Officially Stoops Limit is one of the western branches of the “London Bridge Sewer” micro system, serving the islington, moorgate and barbican areas of London, flowing into Last Bastion after being intercepted by the Low Level Sewer No*2.

The sewer itself is fairly deep, a slow moving river of fudge. This in itself is not a problem, ive been in deeper, but couple that with the fact theres god knows what lurking beneath, ready to catch the feet of a weary traveler, it proves to be quite the pain. Every step, every stumble you fear to be your last, your one way ticket headfirst into the bubbling brew below.

This is how exploring Stoops limit goes, you walk a bit, you almost fall into the sewage and while you regain your composure the stench and gases now stirred up hit your senses. Rinse, repeat, regret! However, while this was true in 2007/8, recently the London Bridge sewer was cleaned, leaks patched, silt removed, all in all making the sewer a much more hospitable place to be. Well, as far as sewer are concerned anyway.

I’d say that 4 years is long enough for the silt to return and the walls to spring numerous leaks again. The porridge factory at the interceptor was quite the most horrific i’ve seen.

Was the can of special brew still lodged into the crap-cake?
