Belgium, the land that knows not of security, monarch fences or monitored cameras. The last time i visited this fine cheese eating country we were blown away by the sheer size, quality and ease of nearly all the locations we visited. Belgium and Brussels are perfect examples of what happens when your government isn’t trying to shove a bible sized wad of paper entitled ”Health and Safety” up your ring piece. We hatched a rough plan with some crayons, coloured in our road map and packed our bags. De muscles in Brussels was a go!

11am, Thursday the 11th, Sh*****t. As expected i awoke late with a 1oclock ferry to catch. Clothes on, bagels toasted (no time for cream cheese here people), bags in the car we took off at Warp 9.8 towards the port. Unsurprisingly, we didn’t make it, thankfully lady luck flashed her graphite prestige card at the port officer and we were onboard the next ferry within ten minutes.

Fast forward four hours, one Strongbow, several bits of pointless car crap required by french law and one realisation that we were driving on the wrong side of the road we were stood in a train station waiting to pick up the newest addition to De Muscles in Brussels, Monsieur Marc. ”Brap”, with that our team was finally assembled, we busted the maddest power rangers poses possible as the station PA announced our names to those curious enough to care. Witek from Canada, Marc from France, Zero from England and Site from Croydon. With the night wearing thin we headed to local exploring resident Slyv’s house for strategic planning and some extra strength beer. Events got slightly fuzzy after that, but all i remember is this and then falling asleep in the car.

The morning sun breached the snowy hills in the distance as i unstuck my face from the frozen window, sweat and man stank dripped from the roof as the car moved. Our first location of the trip was a small prison a little was east of Brussels.

The prison appeared to be going through renovation with half the site already converted. Nevertheless the buildings still held some items of interest such drawings and notes on the cell walls although i don’t know how genuine these are. We walked brazenly through the corridors and levels, photographing the things we saw before heading back to the car and on to the nights main event.
