Our road trip was coming to a close, we had visited several locations which really could only exist in Belgium. Its laid back attitude, variety of locations and lack of security will ensure that explorers will continue to venture forth to its treasures. So before we bid farewell and raised our final glass on the ferry home, we had one more site to see.

The space time continuum was askew, explorers suddenly vanishing and reappearing from the black void. One such explorer was sadly forever lost to us while buying food from a train station, Monsieur Marc. We looked up and he was gone, the empty cardboard box from his chicken supreme the only proof that he once existed. With heavy hearts we eventually gave up the 5m search radius and slipped off towards our next location. Bon voyage Marc, until we meet again.

In Europe its always the small remote villages that seem to have seedy secrets. You know the ones where everyone’s related to each other and if your car was to break down your legs would appear in the butchers window the next morning. I’ve seen the movies so i know this to be true.

A rather large abandoned power station on the outskirts of Brussels. Not really alot to say about this one, i dont know its history, nor why it shut down. As for the insides, i think the pictures tell a better story.

Beringen mine, my most loathsome and hated site from our entire Belgium road trip. Not because of the site itself, but due to the sheer amount of time and effort we spent and pain we recieved trying to get inside. Everything just went wrong, horribly wrong. It ended up taking six attempts to get in, the other five resulted in getting implailed, stung, scratched and cut. Every attempt we made was thwarted by musicians, film crews, tourists, locals, animals, security. Hell even good ole mother nature made an appearence to ruin our day. Eventually we had to say screw this and headed to La Chartreuse instead.

Placed here more as a record then anything else. The day was cold and wet, the site crawling with vandals and photonerds shooting their latest model with a cheeky nipple out.
